Have a Thrilling Day at Alton Towers

October 9, 2009 by

Alton Towers is one of Britain’s most popular tourist attractions. Alton Towers is a theme park, located in the scenic Staffordshire landscape – but despite its quiet and restful setting, it offers lots of thrills for visitors.

Alton Towers has a wide variety of rides and activities – it’s not just huge frightening roller coasters – so there’s something for the whole family to enjoy.

Many of the large rides do have height limits – so try to make certain that younger members of the family don’t set their heart on the biggest rides until you check that they’re tall enough to be allowed on.

Luckily there are loads of alternative things to do from children’s rides like the Beastie, or children can test their abilities in the driving school.

Although most people go to Alton Towers for the famous rides, remember that there are also some stunning gardens to enjoy, which may appeal to some members of the family. Alton Towers also has a water park on site – though this is really a separate attraction and you’ll need separate tickets from the theme park.

There’s no denying, the Alton Towers Theme Park isn’t the least expensive attraction you can visit (though it might be the most fun) – but it’s possible to save money: Booking in advance on the internet is less expensive than buying your tickets on the day. There are also family tickets, group discounts and a brilliant-value two-day pass – any of which will ease the burden on your purse.

As there IS so much to do, why not consider staying at one of Alton Towers’ two hotels on site – they’re perfect if you’d like to spend more than one day at the park.

Alton Towers opening times vary during the year, with some late-night opening on some days – so remember to check before you go.

Everyone has their own favourite rides – but here are some of the best:

Nemesis is thought of as one of the best rides in the UK, and indeed a recent opinion poll rated it as the third best in the world! It’s an inverted roller coaster (so you don’t sit down in it, and your legs dangle free). With a top speed of 50mph, you’ll experience as much as 3.5g as you career through the air, experiencing vertical loops, stall turns and more.

If you’ve always dreamed of flying like Superman – then Air is the ride you’ll be rushing to get on. Designed to offer the experience of flight – there’s nothing else quite like it.

Oblivion – the world’s first vertical drop roller coaster is quite different – it gives riders the opportunity to fall 180 feet into a black hole in the ground. Designed to be scary, it evidently succeeded, as local residents took Alton Towers to court complaining about the screams!

No matter when you visit Alton Towers, and whatever the weather, you’re certain to have a fantastic outing.

Yes, the EU is a giant experiment that's gone dreadfully wrong. Britain should get out now before the fire starts to burn uncontrollably over Europe. The British people are 55% in favour of leaving the EU and are the most Eurosceptic people in the EU. However, our politicians refuse to give the masses of British people that are against the EU such a noble option of leaving it by giving any referendum on it endof, and prefer to drag us ever more deeper into the dark and UN-DEMOCRATIC chasms of EU oblivion.

However, the best thing that can happen is that the EU falls to pieces like the weak pack of cards that it is, and Britain still with it's own currency £ intact and it's city trading base intact will be able to carry on regardless of Brussels collapsing in it's own dung heap. Our recent discovery of oil in the Falklands, coupled with our good trading links with the rest of the world – particularly with China, India, and the the USA, our tenacity and bravery will see us through, and we shall prevail.

Today, myself and Anna collected 2-4-1 vouchers from The Mirror newspaper, in total we have 22 vouchers and more on the way from Burger King! There are trains from Manchester to Stoke then a bus to Alton Towers totalling around £15 each for travel. Now we just need total numbers of people who are attending and to find out what time the European flights are, before we book the tickets :)
