Learn Piano Software Mistakes to Avoid

February 12, 2009 by

If you are thinking about learning piano and you’re considering using a software program to teach yourself with, then there’s three potential mistakes you need to be aware of before you spend your hard earned dollars. We will be going over those three mistakes in the course of this article. By the time you finish reading this, you should have good idea of what these mistakes are, and what you can do to avoid them.

Mistake #1 – choosing a learn piano software program which doesn’t cater to your learning style.

It’s no lie that people learn in different ways. While some people like to read others like to watch video. When it comes to learning piano, it’s important to learn in as many different ways as possible to simulate being taught by a professional teacher face-to-face. At the very least, you need to learn with audio because this would teach you how to recognise pitch. And you need to learn by video, because otherwise you will learn poor posture and poor habits which can make playing very uncomfortable and less enjoyable.

Mistake #2 – not learning songs and only focusing on tedious exercises.

You will soon lose your motivation to play piano if you only ever focus on exercises, and not learning songs of your favourite artists. This is why it is important to find learn piano software which also teaches songs to make learning more fun. It also gives you something to play for your friends and family, or for your own pleasure.

Mistake #3 – buying something without a free trial or money back guarantee.

Most learn piano software programs offer you a free trial so you can see if their style of teaching is a good match for your particular learning style. At the very least, choose something which lets you have your money back if it doesn’t turn out to be the right for you.

In conclusion, I have shown you the three most common mistakes people make when choosing to learn piano software programs.

The only software you should be using for music composition and with midi stuff is SIBELIUS. I spelled it right btw. You can get the full expensive version which is great or the cheaper version which is equally as good. It's an industry standard. Most Music programs at college use it as do most famous composers.

There are some really good assessment tools for ADA. Contribute helps with contrast as well as other characteristics. Some programs have builtin assessment tools. What I really like about ADA compliancy is that if it is ADA compliant, it often accommodates various learning style preferences. This is a plus, two birds with one stone, for those teachers who do not recognize learning style prefence as valid or do not believe they have time. Of course, since it is a passion of mine. . .
