Table lamps and floor lamps are area lighting. A table lamp should not be so tall that when you sit, you see the lightbulb.

A floor lamp is used to spread light upwards. A table lamp is used as accent lighting.

Write it how you want to… I imagine this is for your homework…

    Hi, Brian!
Yeh, I've had “one” yardsale, too. Ugh. I had plenty of “junk…er, stuff” too. I think I also made a little over $100. I also had a truckful of “stuff” leftover that got hauled to Goodwill. Now I just keep an area for stuff that we no longer can use, and when it gets to be in the way, we go directly to Goodwill. I heard somewhere (may or may not be true) that the stuff they don't sell goes to 3rd-world countries, and that makes me feel good. I can't stand to just throw away something someone somewhere could surely use. Yardsales for me at this point in life are like babies — great for someone else to have! Just a few weeks ago across the street I got a ladder, a tolerable chair, and a floor lamp all for $13. So I'm all for yardsales, just for someone else to have!

Fayth, I am so glad that you chose to highlight functional art as simply art. So many times it is easy to overlook the amount of time and effort that goes into making seemingly simple and readily-dismissable-as-functional objects into something artistic and conceptual. Something as simple as a chandelier or a floor lamp can really become a beautiful gesture when done right. Kudos to you!
